LEF will be present in the next Europharm's Annual General & Partnering Meeting that will be held on June (17 and 18), in London. Europharm (europharmsmc.org) is the industry association for small to medium-sized pharmaceutical companies across Europe. Beside other activities, Europharm perform annually a General Meeting that promotes partnering between member companies.

LEF participated successfully in the CPhI exhibition, the world’s largest international trade fair on drugs, ingredients and intermediates, which was held in Madrid, Spain, from 13 to 15 October 2009. We had the opportunity to meet with business partners and present the company and our services & products to many visitors. LEF will be present again at the next CPhI exhibition, which will be held in Paris, from 5 to 7 October 2010.

LEF, created at the end of 1992, officially inaugurated its new facilities at Barcarena, in an official act on the 14th March 2007, headed by the Prime-Minister of Portugal, José Sócrates, the Health Minister, Correia de Campos and the President of ANF (National Pharmacists Association), João Cordeiro. The official event counted also with the presences of the State-Secretary of Health, Francisco Ramos; the State-Secretary of Commerce, Services and Consumer Defense, Fernando Serrasqueiro; the President of the Champalimaud Foundation, Leonor Beleza; and the President of Oeiras’ Town Hall, Isaltino Morais. The ceremony was held with the presence of over 150 guests, among whose several distinguish personalities connected to the public and private sectors of health, namely on the medicine and pharmacy fields.

The Sommer Champalimaud Foundation and LEF have signed a Collaboration Protocol on the 14th March 2007, with the purpose to promote the development of the pharmaceutical sciences and, in particular, the investigation of the medicines quality in African Portuguese Speaking Countries.

LEF organized about ten training courses during the first semester of 2007, held at LEF’s facilities and externally, involving the presence of about 260 participants. The courses comprised a wide range of themes, namely the courses of milling and powder calibration; clean-room higienization (Mini Dry Fog System); handling compounding medicines; chromatographic and microbial LEF has been awarded with the Almofariz Prize last May 10th. The periodical Farmácia Distribuição took the initiative to assign the prize on the item “Project of the Year”, as a way to highlight the work developed at LEF in the pharmaceutical field.
